Contact Us

The fastest way to reach the ZIP Code Demographics Editorial Team is the form below. We read every message, and we are especially glad to receive three kinds: a data correction (a figure that does not match the Census Bureau table cited for it), a geography note (a ZCTA whose main-county assignment looks wrong against the Bureau's relationship file), and a request for a ZIP profile we have not yet published. Please include the ZIP code and, for corrections, the measure and table number involved, so we can verify against the source file quickly.

What happens next: messages go to our editorial inbox and are normally answered within a few business days. A verified data error is corrected by re-pulling the value from the published Census file, and the correction is applied to every page that printed the figure, not only the one reported. Please do not send personal data beyond what your message needs — we never ask for account details, payment information or documents, and no message to this site should ever include them.

Data Corrections in Detail

A correction report is most useful when it names the page, the measure and the value you believe is wrong, and the Census Bureau table and vintage you compared it against. Our data comes from the ACS 2020–2024 5-year summary files, so a figure that differs from a one-year estimate, a different five-year vintage or a commercial website is usually a difference of source rather than an error — but we check every report against the file regardless, and we reply with what we found, including the table cell when a report turns out to rest on a different release. If we have made an error, the corrected value is re-pulled from the published file and applied everywhere it appears.

Profile Requests and Research Use

Our launch profiles cover the 120 largest ZCTAs and the states they sit in. If your research, reporting or planning needs a ZIP area outside that set, tell us which and why: reader requests are how we prioritize expansion waves, and the underlying dataset already contains every ZCTA in the country, so requested profiles can usually be produced from the same verified source files. Researchers are welcome to cite any figure on this site with attribution to the U.S. Census Bureau and the ACS vintage named on the page; there is no charge and no permission step for citing public-domain Census data, though a link back to the profile is appreciated.

Two things this inbox cannot do. It cannot provide data the Census Bureau does not publish — if a ZIP-level measure does not exist in the ACS, we will say so rather than estimate it. And it cannot act on behalf of the Census Bureau or the Postal Service: for survey participation questions, address corrections or mail delivery issues, contact those agencies directly through census.gov and usps.com. For everything about this site's content, sources and profiles, we are the right address and we welcome the note.
